Historic Winton….what a weekend!!!!
I’ve run my Austin 7 at Winton every year since 1990…..there’s been so many fantastic times and some unfortunate times with mechanical issues.
Fortunately this year, despite persistent rain on Sunday, the car stayed together and ran very nicely.
But the star of the event this year was Geoff’s A30!!!!!
Great car, great performance… some of the FJ Holden’s & others couldn’t keep up with him.
The A30 just looked amazing on the track, and ran like a real race car should.
Even off the field in the pits it created so much interest & Geoff couldn’t wipe the smile off his face….even when repairs were needed on the fuel pump & carbys..
The other cars that really went well & looked great in the pre ’65 Tin Top event were a couple of Minis, Bob Jamieson’s VW Beetle, & Steve Russell – Clarke’s A40 Farina….. hopefully we’ll see more of these next time.
The usual parade laps of cars from the carpark car display also did us proud with a beautiful selection of A30 circulating the track.
Great weekend, great fun,…. can’t wait to do it again next year….thanks to the Austin 7 Club.
Russell
